About Dan desBaux
I started training in Shintaido – personal development system, age 16.
About Shintaido.
In 1960s Japan a group of Professional Martial Artists, Christians, Buddhists, and Musicians under the direction of H Aoki pushed their bodies to the limits. Sometimes without food for days, and at extreme altitudes they trained day and night, exploring the realms of what was physically possible. With their bodies ultra-sensitive and minds at heightened awareness they put religious, martial and modern philosophy to the highest test using their bodies as gauges. From these living experiments, Shintaido was born. The practicality of the martial arts synthesised with the highest spiritual aspirations of mankind and the intricacies of deep human relationships.

The Japanese phrase Ten-Chi-Jin or Heaven-Earth-Mankind, symbolises the key aspects of life on earth. The goal of Shintaido practice is to become a living unification of these core elements. Realising through the body directly that I – You (All sentient beings), the Earth that supports us and the infinite spiritual realms, are literally One and the same.
This state cannot be understood or experienced with the mind alone. It requires the Mind and Body to be fully synchronised.
In 1982, I was fortunate to be allowed to study with the 4 UK instructors, who brought Shintaido to the UK.
At my first sight of Shintaido I knew this was the most insane thing I had ever seen – and yet that it held the answers I hadn’t known I was looking for. As an awkward and incredibly shy teenager – just turning up to this incredibly extrovert class was terrifying. But I also knew I had no choice. Something deep inside me “made” me practice.
With the love, determination, and unbelievable patience, from my main instructor, I received my teachers’ certificate at just 21. It had required training at 6am, 5 days a week, most evenings, and weekends.
I was so fit then; I couldn’t get any fitter. Physically I could jump, run, and kick all day but, as intended, the challenge became psychological. Many a times I would be crying and raging at myself – because some unconscious force held me back.
I didn’t know what it was back then, I only knew that my freedom depended on getting past it. My self-disgust and rage eventually built to the point where I didn’t care if I lived or died any longer. Only then was I able to cross the psychological barriers of my own mind. On the other side was freedom. An experience that bypassed all logical thought.
These days I understand the profoundness of those exercises. We were literally going beyond our “egos” aka our “False self”.
This foundation formed my approach to my subsequent studies. When I taught yoga for a while, I had a unique “can do” energy.
When I was learning talk and visualisation therapies I was drawn to the most direct approaches. My comfortable times were at the most challenging retreats. I inherently knew the faster I faced my fears, the sooner I found the freedom I was seeking.
20 years ago, I had a very profound out of body experience, where I re met friends from “the other side”, and other extremely evolved beings. I experienced a place where Time is not a required dimension. From there everything in this world makes complete sense. You can read more about it here. Obviously, I remain open to deeper interpretations of this experience. I did not doubt it was real and have not ever. In fact, I have discovered hundreds of thousands of people have had similar experiences, but due to societal pressures in the past very few have spoken about them.
The “Regression Therapy ” I now offer is a means to this end. A mix of introspection and light hypnotherapy provide an efficient and incredibly effective way to face our fears, go beyond them, and heal the unresolved root causes.
I include Coaching techniques to ensure the clients insights are practically integrated into their real lives.
